For my last birthday, a lady that has been attending discipleship gave me a very special gift. She had this heart especially made to express what our ministry means to her. It’s a beautiful heart sculpture made of glass.
Most Christians do not share trials they face in their heart or mind. Sometimes in our life, there is something simply wrong. We hit a sin or rough patch that we cannot overcome. This is when we should share. We should not cling to our old ways of doing things. We should also not hide anything. We should instead humbly and honestly confess our faults to one another. We should share our hearts honestly with each other.
The sculpture immediately reminded me of Ezekiel 36: 26-27 which says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” At our Breaking Captives Free ministry, we focus on heart issues that are hard to overcome. We share our hearts with one another, softening our hearts so God transforms our lives. We focus on learning the Word of God and putting faith into action.
If you look through the glass heart sculpture, it has a cross in the center. This is a reminder of Romans 10:9 which says, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
The sculpture also is a reminder that the Bible says that a wise man built his house on a rock. We should build our lives on Jesus’ teaching. If we build our lives on Jesus’ teachings, we can stand strong in the storms of life.
Let’s share our hearts and stand strong in the storms of life.
